Roots & Revelry, a restaurant and bar in downtown Birmingham, is offering one group of voters a drink selection that matches their election night choice.
“Tonight special, $92 (45+47) for Trump Chardonnay or Champagne!” read a Tuesday post from the company’s Instagram. “We’ll have election coverage on TV, so watch the results as they come with us, or just grab a bottle to enjoy at home!”
Over 100 commenters reacted to the announcement with mixed emotions.
“I’m unfollowing and will never eat there again,” one woman wrote in a comment that had received 40 likes as of 2 p.m. Nov. 5.
And several people expressed the opinion that bringing the restaurant into the election was the wrong thing to do.
“Everyone should vote for who they think is the right candidate, but you really did your service staff a disservice,” one person wrote. “Good luck in the future.”
“People who would like this post are too scared to come downtown anyway,” wrote one.
“Trump supporters don’t even set foot in Birmingham unless they’re on business. They won’t leave Shelby County for this.
But others may show up to get a bottle.
“Knew I loved you all,” read another comment. “I’ll see you on Sunday for lunch.”
The restaurant has not currently shared any Kamala Harris product promotions.
