A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday in Fremont, according to police.
Around 5:40 a.m., police received a 911 call about a collision with injuries between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Mission Boulevard and Mohave Drive.
The arriving police officers found a pedestrian lying on the roadway. Fremont Fire treated the subject and they were transported to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries and died.
Investigators believe a car was traveling westbound on Mission Boulevard approaching Mojave Drive as the pedestrian crossed Mission. The car hit the pedestrian in the westbound lane of Mission. According to police, the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor, police said. The driver remains at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
The pedestrian is still being identified, police said.
This is Fremont’s twelfth fatal traffic collision of 2024. Six have occurred on Fremont roads, four have occurred on state highways and two on private property, according to police.
