Virtual sessions on specific topics will be held in November to gather input from the public and stakeholders

MONTPELIER, Va. — As required by the Global Warming Solutions Act, the Vermont Climate Council must update its climate action plan by July 1, 2025. As part of the Council’s work, public input is sought on draft recommendations.

The Council and its subcommittees are hosting topic-specific virtual sessions in November to gather input from the public and stakeholders.

Strategies to reduce climate pollution from transport
November 7, 12:30 – 2:00 pm Register for the transportation session.

Building Resilience to Support Vermont Business
November 8, 12:00pm – 1:30pm Register for the Rural Sustainability and Business session.

Ways agriculture can adapt to climate change and reduce climate pollution
November 12, 12:00pm – 1:30pm Register for the Agriculture Session.

The role of natural lands and forestry in climate resilience and offsetting climate pollution
Nov. 13, 6:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Register for Natural Lands and Forestry.

Building resilience through municipal capacity
This session is for organizations that provide support to cities
November 15, 12:00pm – 1:30pm Register for a session on rural resilience and supporting cities.

Municipal climate action and urban leadership
This session is for municipal officials, employees and volunteers
November 19 (two options, same content)
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Register for the afternoon session of Municipal Climate Action.
6:00 – 7:30 pm Register for the evening session of Municipal Climate Action.

Entry session focused on Buildings and heating sector occurred on October 24. Public comments on this topic are still welcome and a recording of the meeting is available on the Vermont Climate Council YouTube playlist.
