Wilmington, Ohio – Voters in Wilmington and surrounding areas can expect unseasonably warm temperatures and gusty winds this Election Day. Forecasts call for highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, resembling mid-September rather than early November. Wind gusts could reach 36 mph, potentially affecting travel and outdoor election activities, especially in open areas and along major roads such as I-71. Residents are advised to secure outside belongings and drive carefully.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington, Ohio, today’s warmth will be accompanied by mostly sunny skies, but conditions will change tonight as showers are expected ahead of a cold front. Rain is expected to begin after midnight, with gusts up to 30 mph, along with a significant chance of showers at 80 percent. New rainfall could reach up to a quarter of an inch, affecting road visibility and creating slippery surfaces.
Looking ahead, the NWS is forecasting a high of 68°F on Wednesday with additional precipitation likely through the early afternoon. Strong winds will continue, but will ease in the evening. On Wednesday night, lows will drop into the upper 40s, providing a stark contrast to today’s heat.
The rest of the week holds cooler, more seasonable weather. Thursday is expected to be partly sunny with a high of 62°F, followed by similar conditions on Friday, which will reach 64°F. Saturday should bring more sunshine, but the chance of overnight showers could continue into Sunday.
