“The combination of the exit of Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankaso of PDP and the G5 rebellion led by Wike cost you the election. Do the math’
Reno Omokri has reacted to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s claim that he was rigged to contest the 2023 presidential election.
In a statement he released on social media, Omokri noted that the former Vice President, while criticizing the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made several statements that may not be an accurate reflection of the situation we now find ourselves in as a country.
“First, I supported, campaigned and believed in the candidacy of Waziri Atiku Abubakar. However, the election was not stolen from him or the Nigerian public by either the Independent National Electoral Commission or the All Progressives Congress.
“It would be difficult for us in the Peoples Democratic Party to win the 2023 presidential election.”
According to him, with the exit of Peter Obi, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankaso and the activities of the five PDP governors led by Nyesome Wike, it was difficult for the PDP to win the poll.
“So while Tinubu was adding, we were subtracting. If you subtract the South East votes, the votes of Kano and Oyo, Benue and Rivers, you will see that this is roughly equal to 6,984,520 votes polled by Waziri Atiku Abubakar in 2023.
“We in the PDP were not manipulated nor were the elections stolen from us. Rather, we were defeated by disunity in our party.
“It was for the same reason that we lost the 2015 election when PDP split into PDP and n-PDP, with n-PDP and its four governors eventually merging with APC alongside Kwankwaso.
“2023 was just a repeat of 2015. History did not repeat itself. Rather, we have repeated history.
