WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Wilmington’s record highs for Nov. 5 and 6 are 84, and while your early warning forecast doesn’t specifically call for them to drop, they’ll at least be challenged with plenty of upper 70s and low 80s around. If you’re heading to the polls this Election Tuesday, the chance of a shower should remain close to 10%; Rain chances will range from low to moderate as a weak cold front approaches Thursday.
The Cape Fear region faces no identifiable tropical threats in this first warning forecast period, but activity continues in the low latitudes. Above all: Rafael will bring tropical storm and hurricane conditions to parts of the Cayman Islands and Cuba as it moves from the Caribbean Sea to the Gulf of Mexico by midweek. At the end of the week, the wind shear should cause Rafael to weaken a bit; may still manage to bring unsettled weather to the US Gulf Coast.
