FSU had a slew of recruits on campus this past weekend for their game against the North Carolina Tar Heels. Four-star Toby Haastrup was one of those to whom the Seminoles made an offer in September. Before his visit, he mentioned that he wasn’t worried about Florida State’s record and that it wasn’t a factor in his decision.
This is great news for FSU because Haastrup saw them lose their fifth straight game to fall to 1-8. However, his trip to Tallahassee was positive according to the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder. From the coaching staff to GM Darrick Yray to the interns, they made a great impression on Haastrup.
As for the actual football stuff, the Seminoles have a plan for how they would like to use Haastrup if he commits.
“They play two defensive ends, and because of my fair speed, they see me play primarily downfield, but that could change as well because the way both defensive ends play, they play the same way,” Haastrup said, via Noles247 . “Usually on the field as they see me playing on the side of the field. This is definitely where they see me, five technique.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Haastrup is ranked No. 273 overall and the No. 25 prospect. He is also ranked as the No. 38 prospect out of Texas for the 2025 cycle.
Haastrup also went into detail about the message head coach Mike Norvell gave him, and a former Seminoles player was brought up in the process.
“He wants me. That he could use me. As I watched yesterday. There were some things that maybe they were missing and they have graduate athletes and just like Jared Vers and the others, he wants to be a part of the great story that I already have and he wants to be a part of that and the impact I,” Haastrup said. “Because he knows FSU is a developmental program. That he definitely feels that I can progress, grow and reach my maximum potential. He definitely sees me as someone who can be as great as Jared Vers.”
The next thing will be for FSU to get him back on campus as soon as possible to keep that momentum going and hopefully get some firepower back into the Seminoles 2025 recruiting class.
