#21 Mavericks Wrap Home schedule with dual win over Sioux Falls – Minnesota State University – Mankato Athletics

Mankato, Minn. — The Minnesota State swimming and diving team wrapped up its home schedule Saturday afternoon as it defeated Sioux Falls 138-99.

With the win, MSU improves to 9-1 in dual action this season. USF now owns a 2-5 dual record on the season. In total, the Mavericks took first in six of the 13 events against USF.

“We had a great final home game of the season today,” head coach Nathan Owens said. “It was also senior day, so the team was excited for them. I was impressed with Sioux Falls and their team. They had great swims and had some really fun matches racing their women.


“The seniors had a great night competing in our pool, including several competitive senior relays. Our divers had a great day throwing down some big dives. Sophomore Nat Freeman set a new school record on 1 meter six dives. Overall, in the pool We look sharp , but maybe a little tired, which is probably a good thing for now. Three weeks.


Sophomore Natalie Freeman Set a school record in the Six Dive 1-meter event with a score of 265.50, with Sr Aspen Warnygora Following in second place with a score of 253.85. The 3m diving event again saw Freeman lead the way with a score of 249.05, with Warnygora following in second place with a score of 227.40.


The Mavericks took first place in both relay events on the day. The freshman quartet Savannah Ackerjunior Megan Schultzsenior Jaedyn Hill and graduate student Eliza Mishmash Finished the 200 Medley Relay event with a time of 1:49.61. In the 200 freestyle event, it was the freshman team Avery Larsenjunior Maki Boffellijunior Alexandra Goretsky and sophomore Ava Rogers It led the way with a time of 1:38.90


Senior Maija Carriveau Won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.62, with Mishmash following in second with a time of 25.36.


Senior Abby Gronholtz Won the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.50, with Larsen following in second place with a time of 1:01.33.


Minnesota State continues its season on the road on Saturday, February 1 as it takes on MSU Moorhead. The doubleheader is due to start at 1pm
