New York Giants have been receiving a good play for the line player over the last two years.

Demetrius Knight has a prototypical size for a linear player at the NFL level at 6 feet 1 ½ inch, 246 pounds with 33-inch weapons. However, its size downplayed athleticism to be a three -down player in modern protection.

Knight is an experienced defender who plays in different schemes in three different schools (Georgia Tech, Charlotte and South Carolina). It shows a high football coefficient of intelligence with an accurate first step, active communication during the game and quick diagnosis of the crime. This is especially impressive given that Knight was a defender to college and he only has six years of experience as a defender.

He is an athletic defender with surprisingly fast legs and a good change in the skills for a more bigger background. He gets a good depth in his drops in his area and is able to cover wide streams of the field on the second level. Knight does a good job by anticipating the play, playing with his eyes in the back and doing a great job to activate the ball both in the coverage of the area and as a running protector.

Knight uses his size and long weapons well to absorb blockers and can arrange and throw blocks of narrow edges in most circumstances and offensive liners, as long as he initiates contact. His football coefficient of intelligence also shows how he uses the ball and position himself to make plays or to force the ball back to his teammates.

He is a reliable boat and a solid striker who is able to get the ball carrier on the ground when he gets his hands on it.

Knight is a very well rounded leader with a few real flaws in his game.

Individual teams can find specific restrictions in its game based on their specific needs and scheme. Knight is a good athlete, but he seems to lack true elite athleticism of the highest class to be the linear turn of the side line to the side line. In the same way, he may not be asked to compare himself with the players of athletic skills in the human coverage.

Blitz-Happy teams would probably like Knight to be more aggressive when he was asked to rush to the passerby. He doesn’t have much on the way to make sacks – only 4.5 in 61 games – and occasionally seems to be indicative when he rushes to the passerby. He has a good construction and the necessary athleticism for the passage, but it may not be convenient to do so at that moment of his development.

Demetrius Knight is designed as a NFL level initial liner with a scheme and positional variety. He must be able to play both inside and outdoor ambulance and perform Will, Mike or his own duties in most defenses.

Knight is an intelligent player who expects and communicates well with his teammates to improve protection as a whole. It has the size, competitive durability and the strength of the game to absorb and throw blocks in the running game, while being able to effectively play in space against narrow edges and go back in the coating.
