20-year-old accused of trying to kill ex’s new boyfriend in Puyallup – FOX 13 Seattle

Gabriel Elijah Gilbert, 20, has been charged with attempted murder for tracking down his ex’s new boyfriend and shooting into his home.

Gilbert appeared in Pierce County Court on Wednesday. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and drive-by shooting.

According to probable cause documents obtained by FOX 13 Seattle, Gilbert threatened to shoot up the home and tried to pay a mutual friend for the address.

According to the documents, the victim was the boyfriend of Gilbert’s ex-girlfriend. The victim lived in a house owned by his mother.

Early Tuesday morning, according to documents, Gilbert found the home, rang the doorbell and began shooting when the victim answered the door.

Investigators said they found at least seven shell casings and a green laser sight on the ground. Gilbert fired at the door and at the upstairs window, court documents said.

The victim was hit in the arm.

Gilbert fled in a Subaru he borrowed from his grandmother, according to court documents.

When the police arrested Gilbert, he asked if it was for shoplifting. He then said he had nothing to do with the shooting, according to investigators.

However, the entire incident was caught on a Ring camera outside the victim’s door.
