BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Two people were shot at two different locations within an hour of each other in Birmingham Friday afternoon, Birmingham police said.
Around 2:19 p.m., Birmingham police said they responded to a call of a person shot in the 200 block of 8th Avenue West.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to UAB hospital without any danger to his life.
Birmingham police say the preliminary investigation reveals the victim and the suspect got into a physical altercation and that’s when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim.
A large police presence was already in the area, so Birmingham Police were able to quickly respond to the scene and take the suspect into custody without incident.
Birmingham police say the incident did not occur on the grounds of Legion Field.
Approximately an hour later at 3:18 PM, Birmingham Police were called to the 800 block of 7th St W on a report of a person shot.
The person shot in the second incident was reportedly not life-threatening.
Birmingham police said they have no suspects in custody in the second shooting.
