BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead, five injured and two men behind bars.
Police confirmed that the shooting happened on Sunday, October 20 around 3:45 a.m. in a parking lot located at 9702 Greenwell Springs Road near Platt Drive.
Dexter Cormier, 35, was shot and taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries. Five other gunshot victims were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers on the scene were able to render assistance and arrest two individuals believed to be involved in the incident.
Michael Robinson, 24, was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail for first degree murder, 5 counts of attempted first degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and unlawful use of a weapon.
Tyrrell Hamilton, 30, was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail for obstruction of justice.
