There are three All-Stars among the roster of local NBA players – Tyrese Maxey of the 76ers (South Garland), Julius Randle of the Timberwolves (Plano Prestonwood Christian) and Pascal Siakam of the Pacers (God’s Academy in Lake Dallas). Grizzlies’ Marcus Smart, of Flower Mound Marcus, was the 2021-22 NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
Anthony Black (Duncanville) of the Magic, Ron Holland (Duncanville) and Marcus Sasser (Red Oak) of the Pistons, Jaylen Tyson of the Cavaliers (Plano John Paul II) and Cason Wallace (Richardson) of the Thunder were first-round picks the past two years. Myles Turner of the Pacers was a 2015 first round pick from Euless Trinity.
Argyle Liberty Christian’s Luke Cornett won an NBA title with the Boston Celtics last season.
