14 Legislative District Officers release a joint statement about Water Works Trenton

Trenton – Senator Linda R. Greenstein, Assembly Wayne P. Diangeel and the Assembly Tenil R. McCoy of the 14th Legislative District have released the following statement in response to the latest concerns about the viability of the Water Affairs in Trenton (TWW).

“For more than a century, the Water Water System in Trenton has provided much of the flowing water used daily by the residents of Mercer County. He currently serves over 220,000 individuals, mainly in Ewing, Hamilton, Hopwell and Lawrence City. Since Tww is part of the city, it is managed by the mayor and the Trenton council, leaving 55 percent of its users without words in its operations.

“After decades of current operating, maintenance and infrastructure disadvantages, Trenton Water Works constantly fails to comply with the Safe Water Act. In 2022, the Ministry of Environmental Protection in New Jersey undertook direct supervision of TWW due to its inability to effectively operate and maintain the system.

“Independent third -country review has recently identified Water Water Words as” an extremely high risk of systemic damage, “a challenge that Tww can’t handle on its own. We, the legislators of the 14th district, advocate for its restructuring as an independent regional public utility. This change would facilitate the modernization of its facilities and improve the professionalism of its staff and operational practices. We are ready to develop legislation to establish this new regional utility.

“It is essential for us to take these steps towards a long -term solution, which will benefit all almost quarter million residents that depend on water work in Trenton for safe, reliable drinking water at affordable prices.”
