Natural disasters are increasing – and this causes some people to review where they live.
Some of the most idyllic places to live in the United States have become predisposed to disasters. Take the coastal Florida, recently knocked out of the hurricane Milton, and the foot of LA, who fought wild fires that have devastated many neighborhoods.
Extreme meteorological events – increasing intensity and frequency – have taken life, homes and business. They cost taxpayers and insurance companies billions of dollars and encouraged insurers to reduce coverage in high -risk areas.
Alexander de Sherbinin, a geographer at the University of Colombian, which specializes in the human effects of climate change, expects to see a lot of climatic migration in the coming years while Americans seek stability.
“Not everyone will necessarily go far. But we could see significant movements, probably far from the shores and north,” de Sherbinin told Columbia magazine.
So where is it safe?
While all US regions will face climate challenges, some areas are more resilient than others.
The Corelogic Property Data Company compiled a list of the safest postal codes in the United States based on the risk of a company that uses ownership data, replacement costs and insight Homes.
“We combine all this in the calculation – so it’s not just the danger, it’s not just the stability of the structure,” Corelogic’s principal Tanya Havlichek told Business Insider. “These are these two things together that create the financial loss.”
The BI analyzes Corelogic with a zip code, grouping the most secure in the metropolitan area and emphasizing the 10 most populated below. Redfin home prices give an idea of how much it would cost to buy a home there.
The list appears a postal code in the Grand Los Angeles, House of the University of California at the University of California. This is a pocket from LA, which is relatively protected from fires, floods and earthquakes, said Anand Srinivasan, Vice President of Research and Development at Corelogic.
